A beat lease or beat license is a contract (agreement) between producer and artist/label that allows the artist to use an instrumental beat to record a unique song or 'Master Recording' for use in demos, mixtapes, promotional use, etc.
Absolutely! With the beat leasing contract you're still able to receive all royalties and publishing owed to you as an artist that is generated from sales of your master recording through digital streaming services, and retailers (Spotify, iTunes), etc.
A non-exclusive license (lease) is subject to the terms and limits within your contract. For example, if your lease allows you to sell 4,000 copies of your unique creation for profit, once that 4,000 is reached, you must re-purchase the lease or upgrade to exclusive rights (exclusive license). If you're not careful and your song takes off, the producer could potentially take your earnings for sales above 4,000.
When you purchase a license for a beat, you will receive an MP3 and WAV file.
Custom beats are $100. A $50 deposit is required and will be applied to the custom beat fee. Finished beat will be sent to the email address provided at the time of the initial purchase. Send a short note with your references/examples, ideas, and timeframe and we will start the process. I will not start creating the beat until deposit fee is paid.
At this time the only music service offered is custom beats. More to come soon!
